Arnold Schwarzenegger's skull. Lifesize, 100% hand-sculpted, traditionally molded & cast in resin. Each one is numbered on the inner rim of foramen magnum.

Most pictures show the "old bone" option.

Sculpted "reverse-forensics-style" from the Arnold bust I sculpted in 2024.
The clay portrait was dug to remove the flesh and "reveal" the skull. The depth of clay removed is based on extrapolated soft tissue thickness at various craniometric landmarks, derived from CT scans and medical surveys on research-gate.

I do not have actual CT scans from Arnold so obviously there is some artistic interpretation there :) A lot of skull features, foramina variations, etc, can be linked to ethnicity and heritage. I tried my best to sculpt realistic anatomy based mostly on Austrian males data from medical studies, to make a best guess of what the real thing could look like.

Properties

  • Weight: Around 1kg / 2lbs
  • Dimensions: 16cm x 25cm x 18cm / 6.3" x 9.8" x 7" (width x depth x height)
  • Materials: Polyurethane resin & oil washes

Features

  • Fully passthrough nasal cavity
  • Passthrough foramina: Foramen magnum, hypoglossal canal, condylar canal, foramen ovale, foramen spinosum, foramen lacerum, jugular foramen, infraorbital foramen, supraorbital foramen, optic canal, superior orbital fissure, inferior orbital fissure, zygomaticofacial foramina, greater palatine foramen, sphenopalatine foramen, nasal foramen, and incisive foramen (incisive foramen is technically passthrough through 2 incisive canals that link to the nasal cavity but much harder to actually get something through)
  • Most other foramina, canals, or canaliculus not mentioned above should be present but not passthrough (ex: pterygoid canal)

What is not there

  • The skull is rotocasted, so the cranial cavity itself is not sculpted (the inside of the skull), if you look through foramen magnum or cut the skull open, the inside will not look anatomically correct, just raw smooth resin.
  • The mental foramen & mandibular foramen are reasonably deep, but they do not link to each other: there is no actual mandibular canal. If you stick a pipe cleaner in the mandibular foramen, it will not go out the mental foramen.
  • The lacrimal groove / canal is reasonably deep but does not connect all the way & pass through into the nasal cavity.
  • The cribiform plate with hints of the olfactory foramina is slightly visible at the top of the nasal cavity, but not passthrough.
  • No sinuses.
